Meditation & The 3 Major

Sun Festivals

What is Meditation?

Throughout ages, people have searched for the answer to the question: Who am I? What is my destiny? What is my life purpose? How can I discover the answers to the mysteries of my Life? Am I more than my body? My emotions? My beliefs? Meditation enables us to find the answers to these questions through unlocking the door to deeper levels of awareness within ourselves.

It is through meditation we can strive to discover our true self and learn to understand more clearly the world in which we live. This is accomplished through the process of thinking. You may say, "That's easy, we think all the time." Do we really? Most of what runs through our minds is a collection of memories and imaginations, words that others have spoken, images that we see, fears played out on our mind's screen, and knowledge that we have collected through a lifetime of input. But again, do we know how to think? And what does thinking do for us?

Thinking is a discovery method. Right thinking has direction and is in harmony with the heart. Such kind of thinking is the science of meditation. You meditate and energies come into you; your health increases, your power increases, you get ideas, creativity, etc.

Ten-thousand years ago, a great sage by the name of Patanjali taught that a person's consciousness  could be awakened through concentration upon the fourfold nature of any object. In other words, by examining an object's form, quality, purpose and cause, we can raise our level of conscious awareness. This examination and consequent revelation is accomplished through a gradient process of thinking. Through observation, through concentration, meditation and contemplation, through the process of elevating the mind, the consciousness expands. Meditation raises a persons consciousness from 75 amps to 7000. To raise your consciousness means to have a larger area of communication.

Consciousness is the level at which we view our world and our existence within it. For example, if a person is caught in greed, jealousy and hatred, he sees the world through his vices, and this becomes the level of his consciousness. It is as a tiny light existing in a sea of darkness. But then, if we observe such a person as Mother Theresa, a woman who is sacrificial, kind, compassionate and courageous, we witness a level of consciousness that illuminates the world. For the most part our level of consciousness lies somewhere in-between. Through meditation, we enable ourselves to touch into higher and higher levels of understanding of our existence. Meditation is Beingness. Meditation makes a person to know and to Be. It is through meditation we will be more successful.

THE 3 MAJOR FESTIVALS

Each year, at the time of the Aries, Taurus and Gemini full moon, three major Solar events take place. A Solar event is one in which special zodiacal energies are transmitted to our planet for the purpose of

1. Expanding humanity's consciousness,
2. Creating harmonization within us, and
3. Breaking crystallizations that are preventing our progress.

The practice of meditation is essential for all three of the major full moons during the five days surrounding the full moon - two days before, the day of, and two days after - to enable us to properly absorb and assimilate the energies for their utmost benefit to us and to our environment.

The first major event this year takes place in Aries, from March 20 to April 19, and culminates at the time of the full moon. This event is known as the Festival of Resurrection. The time of Aries is a time of new beginnings. It brings with it a progressive energy that can enable us to break through our limitations and set new directions for our life. As a seed thought for Aries, the meditator can think about "resurrection."

During the five day period of the Aries full moon, the following seed thoughts can be used:

First day - purification as it relates to resurrection
Second Day - sublimation as it relates to resurrection
Third Day - (the day of the full moon )transmutation as it relates to resurrection
Fourth Day - transfiguration as it relates to resurrection
Fifth Day - resurrection

The second major event this year takes place from April 20 to May 21, during which energies flow to us through the constellation of Taurus. It is the time of the Festival of Wesak, a time in which illumination becomes the keynote of our focus. The following seed thoughts can be used:  First Day - compassion in relation to illumination
Second Day - love in relation to illumination
Third Day - (the day of the full moon) tenderness in relation to illumination
Fourth Day - harmlessness in relation to illumination
Fifth Day - gracefulness in relation to illumination

The third major solar event takes place in Gemini from May 21st to June 20th. During this Festival of Humanity, our concentration should be centered on right human relations. The seed thoughts for this five-day full moon period are:

First Day - creativity in relation to right human relations
Second Day - radiation in relation to right human relations
Third Day - (the day of the full moon) fusion in relation to right human relations
Fourth Day - expansion in relation to right human relations
Fifth Day - transformation in relation to right human relations
