MEDITATION and the FULL MOON OF SAGITTARIUS

KEYNOTE: "I see the goal. I reach that goal and then I see another."

According to the Inner Spiritual Tradition,

it is important to give special consideration and time

to each full moon; to consider each full moon cycle during

the year as a festival of celebration.

During these cyclic periods the cosmic energies--the electrical and radiatory energies of the aligning sun, moon, planets and earth--evoke a strong spiritual vibration and response which increases the value of meditation during each full moon cycle.

Students who are responsive to the rhythm of the Sun set aside the five days of each full moon cycle to utilize the energies in such a way that IT causes a deepening contact with their "voice of silence." A voice which is understood as the source of ideas, aspiration, insight, purpose and sense of future; the voice of one's Soul.

The Inner Tradition reveals that at the time of the each full moon cycle, which is a period of five days,(1) all of humanity has opportunity to establish contact with their divine attributes--most especially those who are disciplined in prayer and meditation.

Most especially the twenty--four hours of the full moon should be set aside as a day of festival, a day of spiritual resource; a day that is full of joy and deep thought.

Each lunar cycle is assigned a keynote which reveals some of the mysteries related to the energies of that particular cycle. As the student of the Inner Tradition makes contact with the energies of the sun, moon, and planets through observation, prayer and meditation, he will discover the key to each mystery; a key which unlocks the many gates to his life purpose.

Each lunar cycle presents us with inspiration from the inner Core of our being when we are ready to respond to this divine flow of energy. Through our response to the voice of silence, to the energies of the lunar cycle, each of us can renew ourselves.

Those who meditate at each full moon cycle, join with millions of people around the world, creating bridges of cooperation, inspiration and a sense of future.

The actual meditation should include a method of alignment and concentration, raising ones consciousness to the light of his Soul.
.

In group meditation the method is similar but more powerful.
.
.
There is a wonderful mantram which can be said as part of a individual or group meditation,
called the Mantram of Unification .

MANTRAM OF UNIFICATION

The sons of men are one and I am one with them.
I seek to love, not hate;
I seek to serve and not exact due service;
I seek to heal, not hurt.

Let pain bring due reward of light and love.
Let the soul control the outer form,
And life and all events,
And bring to light the love
Which underlies the happening of the time.
Let vision come and insight.
Let the future stand revealed.
Let inner union demonstrate and outer cleavages be gone.
Let love prevail.
Let all men love.

The following is a suggested outline for a full moon meditation the group or individual can use:
"Alignment.
Alignment of the threefold personality with the Soul.
Identification with all light-bearers and servers of humanity.
Alignment with the Masters of Wisdom
Visualization of a five-pointed star in orange or blue.
OM
Say the following salutation (if in a group, say in unison):
Salutations to the Masters of Wisdom,
the Elder Brothers of humanity.
OM
Salutations to the Lord Maitreya, the
Christ, the Head of the Hierarchy, and the Path between humanity, the Hierarchy and the fiery Stronghold.
OM
Repeat the Mantram of Unification. (If in a group, repeat together.)
Meditate on a chosen seed thought for fifteen minutes, or a little longer if the group is accustomed to full moon meditation.
Repeat the Great Invocation (see below)
Bless the world.
OM OM OM
Disperse in peace.(2)
.

THE GREAT INVOCATION

From the point of Light within the mind of God
Let light stream forth into the minds of men.
Let Light descend on Earth.

From the point of Love within the Heart of God
Let love stream forth into the hearts of men.
May Christ return to Earth.
From the centre where the Will of God is known
Let purpose guide the little wills of men,
The purpose which the Masters know and serve.
From the centre which we call the race of men
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.

Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.

THE ENERGY OF SAGITTARIUS

The energy of Sagittarius inspires or evokes a sense of direction and idealism. When a person is inspired with a sense of direction we would say that person is goal oriented. People who are goal oriented are responding to the keynote of Sagittarius.

There are two levels of each zodiacal keynote, the level of the personality--general humanity, and the level of the soul--the one who is striving to surpass himself, his present level of achievement, in order to reach the goal of his Soul's Plan.

When a person responds to Sagittarius from the level of the personality, he is responding to the keynote of the personality which says: "And the word said,: let food be sought." At this stage the person's goal is to satisfy his own desires without giving thought to the welfare of others; to meet his own personal drive for ambition and power at the expense of others; to feed and satisfy his finite nature. This will be a pattern throughout many lifetimes until, through the effect of his age long experiences, he confronts a dissatisfaction which is called "divine discontent." It is at this stage in the life of evolving toward perfection that he will awaken to the higher frequency, or keynote of the Soul.

In Sagittarius the keynote of the Soul is: "I see the goal. I reach that goal and then I see another."

During the first stage, we want all of our personal desires to be satisfied. Our evolving human soul becomes so identified with the lower senses that it becomes whatever it is identified with. The level of identification is the level of our consciousness. If all we can think about is our stomach, the soul becomes the stomach and our consciousness is at "stomach level."

In the second stage, we are awakening to higher frequencies; we are no longer half animal and half man; the light of our soul is no longer obscured. The human soul is responding to higher energies, the higher keynote. Our consciousness is now, at this level, traveling toward the direction of the archer's arrow of spirit.

The symbol of Sagittarius used to be the centaur; half-man, half-horse. This symbolized that the animal nature of man was in control. As more people in the world began to change, the symbol changed. Through the changes we were given a new symbol, a symbol which depicted a white horse with a rider, indicating the possibilities of man gaining control over his animal instincts.

Now, as humanity moves into the Aquarian Age the symbol for Sagittarius is once again changing. "The symbol is changing into an arrow flying to the Sun. The arrow is the Divine Spark going back to It's source."(3)

As we strive to make a deeper contact with the keynotes of Sagittarius, we discover it is important to become responsive to the higher keynote, the higher energies of this sign, if we want to make great progress on the path of our evolution.

   Goals and Self-mastery

To set goals in responsiveness to the higher energies of the universe means to strive toward Self-mastery. To establish higher and greater goals means your goals can be used as stepping stones toward your life purpose.

Self-mastery is a far greater treasure to acquire than the possessions of earthly goods.

The quest for Self-mastery begins with divine discontent, with a present dissatisfaction with your life, with a crisis, and when a person no longer wants to be an enemy of himself, but a friend.

The Bhagavad Gita says "He who has conquered himself by the Self, he is the friend of himself, but he who is unconquered, his self acts as his own enemy."

In the first stages of striving to find your purpose in life it is important to establish certain disciplines for the physical, emotional and mental natures, or bodies. For example:

Physical goals: purification, right conduct, right action.

Emotional goals: Aspiration, affection and worship.

   Mental goals: Meditation

A goal is part of a the plan of the Soul. A goal initiates a higher level of awareness.

The first expansion of consciousness is achieved when a person finds his goal which then enables him to have a planned direction in his life.

Many people try to find a goal, but usually look in the wrong places until they find out they were reaching for wrong goals. Actually it is through experiences like this that we grow. What is also very interesting is, if suddenly we are able to find the right goal, we won't recognize it as the right goal because we are not yet ready for it.

The right goal is found when a person reaches the wrong goals and then compares them. He can then find out that, "Yes, this is the right goal!"

The right goals give a person physical beauty, health, emotional stability and peace, mental light and creativity. You will also discover a tremendous amount of energy within you as your strive toward the right goals.

The wrong goals weaken your physical body. Wrong goals take your beauty away from you. The wrong goals create lots of emotional troubles and turbulence, mental problems and difficulties. Even your creativity will slowly fade away. This is how you can tell wrong goals from right goals.

All of our goals, to be right goals, must harmonize with each other, because each goal is a part of the whole life plan of our existence.

There is an interesting lesson to learn in following the wrong goals. In following the wrong goal and failing in that goal, we gain the experience of how following wrong goals affects our life. Without experiencing the downfall of wrong goals we are not really going to think how vital it is to find our real goals.

So you can see how finding the right goal, and then reaching for even higher goals, can lead you toward Self-mastery.

For example, as a goal, you might decide that no matter what is given to you to handle, you will let the light of Joy be the Master over your emotions, and your thought lead you to common sense solutions of the difficulty. If we have Joy within us, no matter what obstacles are placed before us, we can surmount them. Joy is a quality of the mind. If we do not have Joy within us, nothing outside can give it to us. Instead we will be critical, negative and depressing.

Self-mastery is a vital necessity in our lives. It can give us strength to not only make choices but to stand by the choices we make. In Self-mastery we do not create new karma. In Self-mastery we become causes rather than effects; our choices are in harmony with our higher goals, and we create an inner unity.

When our thoughts, emotions and actions are focused in absolute harmony with our Self, our essential nature, we begin to have waves or glimpses of insight to our life purpose. Our life purpose is our spiritual purpose, our creative purpose.

When we begin to respond to the energy of the constellation of Sagittarius, we want to strive to have higher and higher goals.

Group and individual meditation increases one's sensitivity to the higher energies. The effect is to increase our beingness and heal our situations. As we translate the energies coming to us and proceed on our path of evolution, we will no longer remain stuck in our present level of life.

Sagittarius energy penetrates into everything. Remember, "you are equal to the actualization of your goal."

1. The full moon period consists of five days. These days are calculated from the time of the full moon; the actual day of the full moon is the twelve hours before and the twelve hours after the moon is full; the two days before and after the full moon...constitute the five day period.
