AQUARIUS
FULL MOON LECTURE 2001

February 7th, 2001 (MST)
Joleen D. Du Bois

To really feel that we are a part of Life we must be a part of Nature. To be a part of Nature means we must have a consciousness that drinks in the Life of Cosmos and the Life of our planet. The cycles of the full moon and resultant experiences with group meditation remind us of our relationship with the Life of the Solar System.

Humanity is a part of nature – not apart from it. This is why observance of the monthly solar energies is so important. Each month, as the moon becomes full, our sensitivities and awareness can serve as a reminder that we should seek to work with the patterns, with the cycles of nature in everything we do.

We believe in the importance of subjective linking with groups all over the world who are participating in full moon meditations, creating a circulation of energy, which will increase light, love and power throughout the world. We believe that as a collective world group, we will be charged with such a voltage of spiritual energy, that the men and women of Light, Love and Power will move mountains and pave the way for a greater culture, for a greater civilization. We believe that it is imperative for people of goodwill to work together, to cultivate a respect, love and gratitude for each other and to find ways and means to work together on projects centered on a great vision for all of humanity. One simple but powerful project is in sounding the Great Invocation together. We believe those groups, which are oriented toward active goodwill, motivated by a love for humanity can use this mantram as a universal world mantram. It is:

From the point of Light within the mind of God
Let light stream forth into the minds of men.
Let Light descend on Earth.

(Pause)

From the point of Love within the Heart of God
Let love stream forth into the hearts of men.
May Christ return to Earth.

(Pause)

From the centre where the Will of God is known
Let purpose guide the little wills of men,
The purpose which the Masters know and serve.

(Pause)

From the centre which we call the race of men
Let the Plan of Love and Light work out
And may it seal the door where evil dwells.

(Pause)

Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth.

Let us together sound the Great Invocation, linking up with men and women and groups of goodwill all over the world.

*******

As we observe the Cosmic and Planetary rhythm of Nature we will be able to answer the question “Are we living in the world as One, or as a random part, thus removing ourselves from any responsibility for irresponsible behaviors that infinitely affect our family, our community, our world, our Cosmos?

If we want to sustain and protect this planet, if we want to sustain the solar system we must as a humanity, rediscover a reverence for the natural world, irrespective of its usefulness to ourselves - to become more aware of the relationship of cause and effect between God, Man and Creation—and above all, we should show greater respect for the genius of nature's design. In our technological, economical, and intellectual driven age, we are apt to forget these things.

There is still a lack of awareness, and a vast amount of knowledge that our scientists don’t know about regarding this and higher worlds, and the life forms that inhabit them.

There is an eminent British astronomer (Martin Rees,) who was recently quoted as saying: “it is complexity that makes things hard to understand, not size.” He describes a butterfly as a more daunting intellectual challenge than the cosmos!

Yet, I think it is good to be faced with unknowns for it cultivates a sense of humility, inspires a wonder and awe about our place in the natural order of Life. And to feel this at all stems from impressions from the Inner Teacher, giving us a heartfelt sense, which is telling us that we are intimately bound up in the mysteries of life and that we don't yet have all the answers. As intellectual beings, we would like to have all the answers, but as Pascal said, in the 17th century, “It is the heart that experiences God, not reason.”

As we observe the monthly solar cycles, as we spend time observing the designs of Nature in Cosmos and the planet earth, do we not feel that each man and woman of goodwill, each member of humanity must find ways and means, in the daily life to sustain the sacredness of all life; of our own life, the life of the planet and the solar system, and of Cosmos.

Some, when they hear about observances of the monthly full moon, will scoff and call those who observe these monthly cycles, year after year, ignorant.. Yet those who have put themselves in touch with the rhythm of Nature, will recognize how little we know yet of Nature; and in that ignorance, will become inspired with a sense of responsibility that it is our sacred duty to honor and to respect all of Life.

It was Socrates who, when asked for his definition of wisdom, gave as his conclusion, "knowing that you don't know." It was Stravinsky who, when asked to define a genius said, “A genius is one who can contact the spirit of fire, and bring it down into his life.” Stravinsky the conductor and composer worked closely together with Nicholas Roerich the Master artist, in producing the Rite of Spring.

One of the original board members of the Agni Yoga Society, Frances Grant, said of Nicholas Roerich: “The worlds of Roerich are one. Long ago he saw the star of Beauty in the East and fell down and worshipped it. Long ago he glimpsed at the flaming suns beyond the horizons and went out upon the path of them. A conscious Pilgrim of eternity, on an endless journey, this supreme Prophet sees the myriad manifestations of Life as One Life. For him, the quest is endless. The humanity he sees is a divine humanity, believing it is Beauty that will save the world. Within himself—within every man—as without, he sees worlds upon worlds of beauty, each awaiting deeper insights and perceptions for its evocation and full recognition. From the beginning he has had the consciousness – the divine certitude – of the ‘yonder worlds’ – and like a fearless – full-plummed knight, he has gone out on the journeying. This perception of many worlds merging into one; the recognition of a divine humanity; these curves of boundless horizons, have made the art of Roerich in itself, supremely great.” [1] Nicholas Roerich life was a reflection of goodwill, and creativity. His life was a demonstration of a love and respect for Nature and Life as his sacred duty.

Of those whose hearts are awakened, and whose hearts and mind are in balance, some have been One with Beauty, some have experienced the union of many worlds merging into one. Their legacies are our hope for a healthy and safe future.

As humanity collectively aligns with society’s present-day accelerating world of technology, economics and intellectualism, disciples–those whose hearts beat in rhythm with the Cosmic Heart—must listen to the common sense of their heart in order to sustain a healthy life for humanity and the planet. Humanity must strive toward a restoration of balance between the wisdom of the heart and the outer world of science, economics and intellectualism.

Only by creating a balance between our intuitive nature and our concrete mind, can we live up to the sacred trust that has been placed in us by the Most High, the Sustainer of all.

The following keynotes can be used a seed thoughts for meditation during the exact time of the full moon of Aquarius as well as during the month these energies are so potent.

And the Word said:
Let desire in form be ruler
. [personality]
Water of life am I, poured forth for thirsty men [soul]

Looking at the Aquarius Full Moon chart, for MST, you first note there is a Grand Fixed Cross formed by the planets of  Mars, the Sun and Uranus, Saturn and the Moon. The Fixed Cross is the cross of discipleship. Many disciples today are finding themselves upon this cross…preparing themselves for the third and even the fourth initiation. Others are finding themselves partly on the fixed cross, while there is yet a part of their personality nature that is trying to graduate from the mutable cross of the personality. For such people, they will be strongly influenced to participate in the spiritual disciplines of purification, creating a readiness for transmutation, transmuting their energies from the sacral and solar plexus center into the heart and throat centers. Once the disciple is on the fixed cross, he will prepare himself for the third Initiation of consciousness. There will be a transmutation from his heart center to the head center. Initiation is a steady process of enlightenment about our present conditions, our level of consciousness, our abilities and possibilities, and our steady striving toward the goal. Buddhists call the third initiation of consciousness Enlightenment in which the disciple gradually unfolds his mental powers, tried to penetrate into the laws of Nature, and has a vision of his true essence. The fixed cross in this full moon chart indicates opportunities will be presented to the disciple who is on the fixed cross. Opportunities will be given to the disciples, in the form of tests, crises and challenges as preparation and the testing of readiness  for the initiation of enlightenment.

URANUS

Uranus is the exoteric ruler of Aquarius. It is the seventh planet from the Sun and the third largest planet (by diameter).

Uranus, was discovered by William Herschel while he was systematically searching the sky with his telescope on March 13, 1781. The Uranus influenced Aquarian is difficult to understand; where their goal is toward group consciousness, the immature Aquarian tends to isolate him or herself from the group, “I can do it myself.” During this phase the Uranus Aquarian is learning self-reliance, and is ego-centered.

Saturn the old ruler of Aquarius is the sixth planet from the Sun and the second largest planet.

SATURN

Saturnian Aquarians are normally very practical, loyal and family oriented folks; often times they will feel they have the weight of the world upon their shoulders. They will do their duty, but not always with joy. They will normally have a sense of  “doing the right thing” but later, will buckle under the pressure.

The Uranian Aquarians are also family oriented as long as their personal freedom is not limited by individual family member demands; the Uranus Aquarian needs to be in charge. The Saturian Aquarian appears to be more psychologically stable, and work oriented, with a strong tendency to worry; where the Uranian Aquarian prefers not to work unless he has a job with “no boundaries.” The Aquarian prefers a job where he has management control; where as the Saturnian Aquarian will easily accept orders and practice obedience to the boss.

Jupiter is the esoteric ruler of Aquarius is the fifth planet from the Sun and by far the largest. Jupiter is more than twice as massive as all the other planets combined.

It is the disciple who is strongly influenced by the esoteric ruled planet Jupiter. The jupiterian type Aquarian is one whose heart nature is open, and is striving to balance heart and mind. Their nature is that of love-wisdom. It is the influence of Jupiter on the disciple, which leads him toward world service.

“Aquarius is a constellation of supreme importance to our solar system at this time, for it is the sign into which our Sun is rapidly moving and its influence is gaining in momentum and added potency with each vanishing decade.” (the Tibetan)

“Because it [Aquarius] is an air sign, its influence is all pervasive and inter-penetrating.” (the Tibetan)

“The keynotes of this sign are three in number and very easy to understand,. They are:

1. The service of the personality, the lower self, which eventually transmutes itself into the service of humanity.

2. Superficial and selfish activity which transforms into a deep intention to be active on behalf of the Hierarchy.

3. Self-conscious living which changes finally into a sensitive humanitarian awareness.” (the Tibetan)

The unawakened and undeveloped Aquarian expresses his life by way of superficial self-awareness. Superficial means in this case shallow, he does not yet take responsibility for his actions and reactions. A superficial self-awareness indicates the consciousness of this Aquarian is mostly controlled by his or her selfish needs, his inner urges and drives, desires and prejudices. However, this behavior is modified, and matures when the conscious of person expands, and he becomes aware of the energy currents of Leo. It is at this point the unawakened Aquarian begins to transmute his superficial self-awareness into becoming sincere and responsive to his Inner Teacher; in other words he becomes sensitive to his conscience.  As the interplay goes on between the energy currents of Leo and Aquarius (for they are polar opposites) there comes a deepening of all qualities and the superficialities disappear until-upon the reversed wheel-the intensive self-consciousness of Leo expands into the group awareness of Aquarius. The individual becomes the universal server.

RAYS:

Every constellation emits a Ray energy from the Great Bear. Aquarius releases 5th Ray energy from the Great Bear. The color of Ray Five is Yellow and Indigo.

Ray Five: The Soul and Personality Ray of Aquarius is Five. This means that the currents of Ray V will stimulate the spark enslaved in the material life of the personality, as well as disciples and initiates. Ray V corresponds to concrete knowledge; it is also related to the field of science. If you are an Aquarian, you may say, “I am not a scientist.” However, if you are an integrated person, a person whose physical, emotional and mental bodies are in harmony, you will have a tendency to approach things in your life from a scientific point of view.

However, there additional planetary energy currents influencing Aquarius:  the two ruling planets of Aquarius; Jupiter and Uranus.

Ray Two: When Aquarius blends and harmonizes with the esoteric ruling influence of Jupiter, he or she will find all that he approaches in life will be educational in nature. Education is transformation. It leads a person forward. The Jupitarian Aquarian will be a natural educator, striving to lead people forward by his teaching example. True education awakens people to their potential.

As a natural healer, especially if the person has Aquarius rising, he will approach those in need of healing from a scientific, educational point and intuitive point of view, rather than a mystical point of view. He will heal magnetically. In all that he does, he will create a field of unity rather than random parts. His labor will not separate families, groups or countries, but will rather create methods of unification; of harmony and compassion through love-wisdom. For an Aquarian to come under the influence of Jupiter, he must have achieved a certain degree of enlightenment, qualifying his work as a disciple.

Ray Seven: If the Aquarian person (sun sign or rising sign) comes under the influence of the exoteric ruling planet of Uranus (rather than the esoteric ruler) then he will be influenced by the currents of Ray Seven and Ray V; concrete knowledge will blend with organization and form. Ray seven inspires and ignites a sense of organization within the consciousness of the person. He will be learning the science of rhythm and right response throughout his life.

The Ray seven inspires and ignites a sense of organization within the nature of a person. Ray seven inspires right rhythm and proper response.

RHYTHM:

Life has a certain rhythm to it, we see this rhythm in nature through the four seasons; we see it in life and death. Our emotions follow a certain kind of rhythm and even our mental activities can be rhythmic. The monthly full moons and solar cycles display a natural rhythm.

The personality influenced Aquarian, will be challenged to observe the rhythm in his life and how he can benefit if he creates a better rhythm, a more regulated rhythm.

The Soul-Infused Aquarian will be in tune with the principle of rhythm, and able to see that life itself is rhythmic, especially through his contacts with the Higher Worlds. The Soul-infused disciple will orchestrate these rhythms and manifest them in his service to his family, group, nation and humanity.

The personality oriented Aquarian, with his increasing need for regulated rhythm, especially during the cycle of the Aquarian full moon, will have opportunity to improve the rhythm in his/her life.

When a person has orchestrated a rhythm into his/her life it will create a life environment where he will be able to receive higher energies from the Fiery Worlds, the world of pure Spirit. This reception will bring energy from the higher spheres into the lower bringing energy and blessing as well as providing for transmutation, raising the lower into the higher.

If however, if the Aquarian does not maintain a regular rhythm, the higher energy will slowly disintegrate and vanish.

MEDITATION. If a person engages in regular meditation, he will accumulate energy; the spiritual energy of his regular meditation will accumulate, improve and increase. This means he will build his higher mind through which higher ideas, vision, inspirations and revelations will be given to him or her.

GROUP MEDITATION. This is also true for group meditation. The WMEA group has held 220 full moon meditations since it’s founding. This is an example of regular meditation. Regular, rhythmic individual meditation will lead to Group meditation. Group meditation is more successful when it is made of those who have been successful in their individual meditations. Rhythmic group meditation creates a center of light, wherever it is done, physically and subjectively.

HIGHER FORCES are very rhythmic and always make themselves available to us in the same moment of the day or week. This is why we need to establish rhythm in our own lives, especially through meditation. If the rhythm is broken, the communication and flow of energy will eventually stop.

As a simple example, any musician will know that if he does not engage in daily practice he will eventually lose his talent. If he practices on a regular basis, his talent increases. This is true in sports as well. Rhythmic rehearsals or exercises increase our light; but if the rhythm is broken disintegration slowly occurs.

THE AQUARIAN AGE: We are on the cusp of the Aquarian Age, those who are sensitive to the currents of the currents of Aquarius will become more and more responsible to the rhythms of the Cosmic Heart.

This month all of us must strive to be in tune with higher rhythms, with to find our right place in the symphony of Nature, the higher rhythms of Nature.

I have only given a little glimpse into the subject of rhythm and Aquarius. But this information will serve as a good beginning.

PRECEDING SIGNS. It is good to realize there is a relationship between the sign before and the sign after, in this case, Aquarius. You can see the progression of one’s soul through the succession of signs. For example, Capricorn becomes ‘dissolved into the air’ of Aquarius. When the Aquarian’s consciousness moves into Pisces, the individual fish merges with the higher Fish – the Self, and the Aquarian upon the reversed wheel becomes recognizable advanced in his pervasive wisdom and universal love.

Of course the opposite is also true, where the Aquarian falls deeper into concrete matter, into the mundane life. “The wheel of the personality, the superficiality and the airy nature of the undeveloped Aquarian falls deeper into the concrete and rocky materialistic nature of Capricorn. The average man in Aquarius puts all his wares into the window, and often in the room behind the window there is little to be found.” (Esoteric Astrology – A.A.Bailey)

The Aquarian can experience the depths of depression and of self-depreciation or he can know and pass through the exaltation of the soul and the sense of spiritual power which Soul control gives, and know them to be the interplay and the action and reaction which are necessary for growth and comprehension. The law of such action and reaction is the law with which he works.

In Leo, a person’s center and point of consciousness is himself; “he turns upon himself and revolves entirely upon his own axis and in respect and relation to himself, and is all the time the self-centered individual, consecrating all thought, time and service to his own well being and personal interests.”

But in Aquarius, the polar opposite of Leo and its sign of consummation, the Tibetan tells us that he becomes outgoing; there is no centre or circle of circumscribed influence but only two outgoing lines of energy, pouring from him into the world of men.

“The self-conscious individual in Leo becomes the conscious server in Aquarius, and this is well expressed for us in the symbols of these two signs. The Aquarian is consecrated to group service and to the welfare of humanity.” (Esoteric Astrology, A.A. Bailey)

THE PERSONALITY oriented Aquarian, for instance, “will be a faithful and loyal employee, the supporter and worker in some firm or business within whose limits all his interests are confined, and to whose welfare all that he has, is consecrated.” (Ibid)

THE SOUL-INFUSED AQUARIAN / DISCIPLE: What he consecrated in his personal life he has expanded and raised up into the world of selflessness, consecrating all that he has to world service.

FIXED CROSS:

Aquarius, is one of the arms of the Fixed Cross (along with Leo Scorpio and Taurus). This Cross is outstandingly the Cross of Discipleship .

In Aquarius- the long effort of the soul is consummated and concludes the experience of the disciple upon the Fixed Cross. The man then takes the third initiation and becomes free from personality control, taking the next two initiations upon the Cardinal Cross.

The Fixed  Cross-is the cross of light; and is the cross of the disciple.

The Fixed Cross is also called, by the Tibetan, the Cross of Transmutation

TRANSMUTATION: We can understand transmutation through the concept of changing lead into gold; the lead is transmuted. In our case, it is changing our personality (lead) into Soul Infusion (gold). It is, in other words, the process of Purification. The substance of the Aquarian will be pulled up into the substance of a higher plane.

Transmutation also means the higher correspondences of the lower centers.

For example:

(a) For the aspirant: The energies are transmuted from the sacral center and the solar plexus, to the heart and throat centers.

(b) For the disciple: Transmutation for disciples goes from the heart center to the head center.

(c) For the Initiate: Transmutation for Initiates goes from the Chalice to the Spiritual Triad.

MEDITATION FOR AQUARIUS

The keynote for us to meditate upon this full moon of Aquarius is Rhythm and Transmutation.

During the month that the currents of Aquarius are influencing our mechanism, you can ask yourself

(1) “What in my nature do I want to transmute?”

(2) “What in my personality life is coarse and in need of refinement; physically, emotionally and mentally?”

Once we undergo the process of purification and refinement, then we can experience transmutation; raising the substance of one body or center to a higher plane substance.

Then take a moment and observe your life at present. Then:

(3) Ask yourself how can I benefit if I create a better rhythm, a more regulated rhythm in my life? Think about your physical life, then your emotional life, then your mental life.

Let’s begin our meditation.

  1. Let’s begin by sounding the Great Invocation.
  2. Sing the Self. If you do not know this mantram, enjoy listening to it being sung.
  3. Now, relax yourself and put a nice smile on your face, taking three deep breaths.
  4. Sound three OM’s.
  5. Ask yourself the three questions, using the three questions as seed thoughts.
  6. Closing: (Love to all beings Mantram)

Love to all beings,

North, South, East, West,

Above, below.

Love to all beings.

Compassion to all beings,

North, South, East, West,

Above, below.

Compassion to all beings.

Joy to all beings,

North, South, East, West,

Above, below.

Joy to all beings.

Serenity to all beings,

North, South, East, West,

Above, below.

Serenity to all beings.”
